Shamrock’n since 2012
I run because I always feel better after a run and it helps me to get rid of negative energy in my life. I always feel that I've accomplished something great after a run. Up until 2011, I was convinced that I was not a runner since my only previous running experience had been mandatory running in PE.
My sister and I started running together with Fleet Feet Training in 2011 when I moved back home to Sacramento after school. We ran our first Shamrock'n in 2012 and we've grown even closer and have a special bond that comes from spending long hours on the trails together. Training with Fleet Feet taught me to slowly ease into running with run/walk interval training and how to increase my mileage over time. I've made many close friends through the Fleet Feet training programs and I am so grateful for the role they've played in transforming me into a runner.
Running is a great opportunity to push yourself further than you ever thought and to make friends while doing so. You owe it to yourself to find out how strong you are.
The Shamrock’n has a great atmosphere and camaraderie among the runners. I love starting and ending the race running across the Tower Bridge and finishing at Raley Field. The bands spaced out along the route are very energizing and help keep you going through the next mile. I especially enjoy the VIP area in the Solon club for Fleet Feet trainees before and after the race.
I hope to see you at the 2016 Shamrock’n!
